**NEW EXCURSIONS**

Sydney – A Living Harbour |
Sydney Harbour is the cleanest it has been in years and home to an enormous variety of marine animals, many benefiting from the clean water.
All information covered is relevant to the age group of the students. |
Mangroves: this full day excursion takes place in the western part of Sydney Harbour and travels into the Parramatta River. |
Tide and weather conditions are noted and students will visit a wetland area to observe first hand the mangroves in their natural environment including mud flats, rock pools, sea grasses, the amazing root system of the mangrove, and the habitats of fish and birds.

Foreshore Tidal Zone: this half day excursion takes place in the eastern part of the harbour, and for a full day covers some of the western parts of the harbour particularly around the fish markets. |
Tide and weather conditions are noted and students will visit Shark Island to examine the tidal zone around the ferry wharf, beach, rock pools, crevasses and rock platforms that are home to shell fish and marine animals.
Further onto the island students can look for signs of animal life.
There will be an opportunity to use a water testing kit and take water samples at various locations throughout this excursion.

| Bridges |
This excursion looks at the technological influences on the design and construction of the six bridges of Sydney Harbour.
Students can explore the future needs of a global city and are encouraged to think about tunnels for future harbour crossings, and consider the environmental impacts of a new bridge at Iron Cove.
